Louis Reisman Celebrates 40 Years with Weinstock Manion

Weinstock Manion is pleased to be celebrating Louis Reisman’s forty years of service with the firm. Reisman provides sophisticated wealth transfer plans, enabling high net worth clients to pass assets to beneficiaries without paying estate taxes. Having begun his career as a CPA in the tax department of a national accounting, Lou is particularly adept at advising business owners.

“People often are unaware that it’s possible to move their entire estates into the hands of their heirs, tax-free, while continuing to maintain their desired level of income for life,” noted Reisman. “by helping our clients address the difficult subjects of mortality and complex familiar relationships, we resolve their wealth transfer concerns while bringing long-term benefits to their families for generations.”

Reisman joined Weinstock Manion on May 1, 1972, shortly after earning his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago. He landed his first client on that same day, the owner of a business valued at $900,000, whose heirs remain Lou’s clients today. For over 40 years, Lou has advised the family through the founder’s unexpected death, establishing multiple trusts, business management issues, the sale fo the business for $42 million, providing for the founder’s widow’s financial needs, and the tax-free transfers of the estate to the founder’s children.

Another of Reisman’s long-time clients, Steve Hemstreet, commented, “When I met Lou, over 25 years ago, I had a vision but did not have an estate. Since then, Lou and his colleagues have provided honest, straight-forward advice to guide me through business acquisitions and divestitures, contributing greatly to my success and wealth preservation.”

Reisman’s practice includes estate tax reduction planning, pre-liquidity event planning for business owners, business succession planning, estate planning and charitable planning. He was Managing Director Weinstock Manion from 1975 through 2004, and presently is a director of the American Heart Association, Los Angeles Division, and O.P.I.C.A., a non-profit provider of day care programs and services for adults with dementia.

A leader in the estate planning field, Reisman was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013, named a Southern California Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers® in each year from 2004 to 2012, and is rated AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 / 5.0 by Martindale Hubbell.
